Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kwin Griffin (ranked 3252 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturs Shelby (ranked 4576 p4p, 0 weight class). Arturs Shelby told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelby stuffs the takedown.
Shelby drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Griffin defends it well.
Griffin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shelby, pushing him back against the cage.
Griffin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Griffin is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kwin Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shelby has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Griffin uses from the top position.

Shelby changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Griffin tries to avoid it but Shelby manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Griffin to the ground. Griffin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shelby scores with a head kick. Griffin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Griffin takes the fight into the clinch.
Shelby gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Griffin.

Shelby is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Griffin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shelby smiles and moves away.

Sloppy strikes from Shelby. Those never looked like landing.
Shelby shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Shelby moves into the clinch successfully.
Shelby breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Shelby counters with a head kick. That will keep Griffin thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Shelby closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Shelby tries to score a body lock takedown but Griffin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Shelby pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Shelby tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Griffin swivels and escapes.
No luck for Griffin with that takedown attempt.
Shelby closes the distance and clinches.
Griffin prevents the takedown attempt.
Griffin tries to break free but Shelby pushes him back against the cage.

Shelby gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Griffin regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Griffin is looking to sweep but instead, Shelby has passed into half guard.
Griffin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Arturs Shelby dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Shelby tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Griffin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Griffin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Griffin wants it to stay on the feet.
Kwin Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin throws a right and a left that Shelby avoids nicely.
Shelby looks to land a left hand but Griffin moved out of range nicely.
Shelby will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Shelby postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Griffin to stand up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shelby wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Griffin, who protects the arm well.

Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shelby on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shelby is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Griffin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Griffin shrugs it off.

I've got Shelby winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
