Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Palmer Walker (ranked 7248 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elias Rakas (ranked 4634 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Palmer Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Elias Rakas!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rakas takes the fight into the clinch.
Walker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rakas walks away with a smile on his face. Walker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Rakas has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rakas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rakas scores with a body shot.

Rakas feints and as Walker raises his hands in defense, Rakas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rakas wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving.
Rakas being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker is pulling down on Rakas's head. It's preventing any offense from Rakas, at least for the moment.
Walker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Walker is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rakas is aware though and is defending well.
Rakas postures up and lands a big shot to Walker's brow.
Rakas engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rakas manages to get himself to full guard.

Rakas wants to sweep here but Walker controlling him for the moment.

Rakas is working an open guard so Walker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Walker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rakas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rakas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Who's going to make the next move?
Walker gets back to half guard.
Walker is looking for a sweep. Rakas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Walker desperately trying to maintain half guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Walker controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rakas is trying to defend but Walker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elias Rakas dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


That kick from Rakas tenderised Walker's leg. Walker is trying to keep his angry face on.
A jab from Rakas misses.
Walker dives in for a single leg takedown but Rakas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Rakas misses with a body kick.
It looked like Walker was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Walker darts in and clinches Rakas up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rakas regains guard immediately.
Walker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Walker connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker won't allow Rakas to sweep him here.
Walker lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Walker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Rakas is trying to keep Walker in close.

Rakas looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Walker passes into side control.

Rakas can't do much from the bottom here.

Walker is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rakas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Walker cracks Rakas with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Rakas tries to control but Walker manages to take his back.

Rakas wants to control his opponent's hands but Walker gets his hands free.

Rakas just trying to survive but Walker is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Walker throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Rakas!

Walker is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Palmer Walker dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Walker rushes Rakas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rakas has picked Walker up - he's going for a ride! Rakas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Palmer Walker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rakas has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Walker works to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rakas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Walker is controlling Rakas's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rakas wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving.
Rakas wants to stand but Walker is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rakas postures up in Walker's guard and throws a big left but Walker blocks it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rakas misses with a kick to the body.
Walker appears to be looking for a big counter.

Rakas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Walker to the ground. Rakas is now in Walker's guard.
Rakas is stalling in the full guard.

Walker is adopting a defensive guard.

Walker is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rakas is aware though and is defending well.

Rakas with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rakas's guard.

Rakas has control of Walker's left arm, preventing Walker from doing any damage.
Rakas wants to sweep here but Walker controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rakas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rakas controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.
Walker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Walker is looking to work some ground and pound but Rakas has wrist control.
Walker slips nicely into half guard.
Rakas gets back to full guard.
Rakas tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rakas trying to control the position.
Rakas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rakas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Walker is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rakas.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Palmer Walker.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
