Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Oyalade! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shik Jang! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oyalade tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jang defends well and Oyalade ends up having to push Jang into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Jang throws a sloppy head kick and Oyalade moves out of range easily. Oyalade lands a glancing blow to the side of Jang's head. Jang tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jang wants to clinch. Oyalade attempts a counter takedown but Jang avoids it well and moves away. Jang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oyalade has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jang misses with a hook to the ribs.
Jang is looking to break free of the clinch but Oyalade has double underhooks. Jang gets underhooks to prevent Oyalade's takedown attempt.
Jang tries to stall but Oyalade uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oyalade has Jang pressed against the cage.
Oyalade on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jang wants to get back to striking at distance but Oyalade won't allow it.
Oyalade gets control of Jang's arms and successfully pulls guard. Oyalade will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Oyalade manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jang manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oyalade stops Jang from standing up. Oyalade sitting in guard here, content to control. Jang pushes Oyalade off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jang tries to clinch but Oyalade is having none of it. Shik Jang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jang lands with a kick to the temple. Oyalade shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Stephen Oyalade has been cut. Whack! Jang lands a heavy head kick that drops Oyalade. The ref tackles Jang to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Oyalade was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Shik Jang!
