Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Valen Dreth (ranked 1077 p4p, 116 weight class) and Peter Dryswood (ranked 2148 p4p, 233 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dreth might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Night Witches - Sabaton. This should be fireworks!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Dryswood!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Dryswood or perhaps it was just good defense by Dreth, which made it look bad.
Dreth half committed to a counter leg kick.

Dryswood closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dreth looking for submissions off his back.
Dreth has hold of Dryswood's hands but Dryswood slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dryswood working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Dreth has his hands clasped together around Dryswood's back. He's all about the action.
Dryswood thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dreth's head.
Dreth definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dryswood drops an elbow to the side of Dreth's head.

Dreth looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Dreth is looking to control Dryswood's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dreth avoid being mounted?
Dryswood winds up and cracks Dreth with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Dryswood is nestled in close to Dreth, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dryswood missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dreth is trying to control but can't.

Dreth has hold of Dryswood's hands but Dryswood slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Dreth is pressing down on Dryswood's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dryswood postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Dreth had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dryswood defends it easily.

Dryswood avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dryswood stands up over Dreth, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Dreth lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dryswood can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dreth advances position into side control!
Dryswood wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Dreth controls the position.
Dryswood is trying to improve his position.

Dreth is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dryswood has escaped the position, nice work there.

Dreth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dryswood knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dryswood gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Dreth swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Valen Dreth!
Valen Dreth retains his featherweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Valen Dreth thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
