Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maciej Kierzkowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leo Wittles!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kierzkowski takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kierzkowski tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wittles manages to circle out of the way.
Wittles swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Kierzkowski counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kierzkowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wittles swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kierzkowski looks up at the clock and then as Wittles takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kierzkowski smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kierzkowski is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Kierzkowski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kierzkowski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kierzkowski takes a little break here. Wittles wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Wittles pushes Kierzkowski away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kierzkowski gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Wittles is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Kierzkowski is staying tight to Wittles's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Kierzkowski connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wittles some visible discomfort.
Kierzkowski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wittles.

Kierzkowski is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wittles can do to turn this around?
Wittles looks like he's trying to stand up.
Well, if Kierzkowski is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kierzkowski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wittles for as long as he can get away with.
Kierzkowski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kierzkowski's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wittles looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Wittles fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kierzkowski.
