PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Luck (ranked 4952 p4p, 456 weight class) and Anton Ackermann (ranked 5123 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Luck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anton Ackermann!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ackermann swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Luck tries to counter by clinching up but Ackermann breaks away and moves out of range.
Luck changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ackermann tries to avoid it but Luck manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ackermann to the ground. Ackermann escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ackermann drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Luck defends it well.
Luck keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Luck appears to be looking for a big counter.
Luck tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ackermann defends well and Luck ends up having to push Ackermann into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ackermann swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Luck throws a big counter combination but Ackermann scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Luck uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ackermann.
Ackermann misses with a wild combination.
Ackermann takes a swing at Luck's ribcage but misses.
Ackermann misses with a double jab

and Luck counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luck prevents Ackermann from improving his position.

Ackermann looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Luck tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Luck takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ackermann is looking to improve his position.

Ackermann looking for submissions off his back.
Luck not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ackermann makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ackermann.

Ackermann looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Luck passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ackermann manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ackermann wants to hit a switch here but Luck passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ackermann there!
Ackermann tries to reverse the position but Luck maintains control.
Luck wants to stand but Ackermann is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Ackermann tries to hold on but Luck postures up.
Ackermann is desperately trying to improve his position but Luck has a good base and remains in mount.
Luck cracks Ackermann with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Ackermann wants to control but Luck is having none of it.
Ackermann might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Luck haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Ackermann is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ackermann tries to lock up and control but Luck gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ackermann is trying to escape the mount.
Ackermann is squirming around, avoiding Luck's attempts to control the action.
Ackermann tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ackermann wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Luck fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ackermann to the ground. Luck is now in Ackermann's guard.

Luck is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Ackermann sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Luck's guard.

Ackermann is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Luck has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ackermann seems to be looking for submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ackermann looking for a submission but Luck manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

and Luck counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Luck.
Ackermann is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Luck is on top in guard.


Ackermann looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Luck has picked Ackermann up and slammed him! Ackermann can't keep hold of the triangle and Luck manages to pass to side control!

Ackermann sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Ackermann has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Luck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Luck wants to pass the guard but Ackermann is keeping the position.

Anton Ackermann has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mark Luck is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ackermann tries to control Luck's body but Luck pushes him off. Ackermann squirms to his side and now Luck has his back!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Luck, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
