PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rex comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Through The Fire And Flames by Dragonforce kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyson Rex!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex blocks a head kick by Dennis.
Rex shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dennis shoots in but Rex avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dennis shoots in looking for a takedown. Rex tries to sprawl out of it but Dennis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rex manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Rex counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Dennis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dennis wants to sweep here but Rex controlling him for the moment.

Dennis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dennis is trying to keep Rex in close.

Rex stands and throws Dennis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Dennis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rex cracks Dennis with a big right hand but Dennis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Rex decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dennis to his feet.
Dennis misses with a kick to the body.
Rex is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rex feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rex decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rex looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rex tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dennis tries to clinch up.
Rex pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Dennis throws a right hand that Rex ducks under and follows up with a left that Rex also avoids with ease.
Dennis scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rex in his tracks.

and Rex holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Dennis lands a nice knee to the body.
Dennis is breathing heavily.
Rex is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rex takes an elbow to the forehead.
Dennis tries for a takedown but Rex manages to get underhooks.
Rex tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dennis smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dennis tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Rex decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dennis's guard.

Dennis working for a triangle but Rex defends it easily.

Rex stands up and waves to Dennis to follow him.
Rex keeps the fight on the outside.
Dennis is looking to slow Rex down with leg kicks.
Dennis fails with the takedown

and Rex counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dennis won't be happy with that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rex advances nicely into full mount.
Dennis is squirming around, avoiding Rex's attempts to control the action.
Rex sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dennis tries to hold on but Rex postures up.
Rex content just to control the position here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rex wants to control the action but instead Dennis gets a body lock and reverses into Rex's guard! Nice work!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dennis misses with a takedown attempt - Rex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Dennis counters with an outside leg kick.
Dennis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dennis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rex as he avoids it easily.
Dennis shoots for a double leg takedown but Rex sprawls well. He's pushed Dennis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rex closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dennis to the mat! Dennis manages to get full guard.
Rex passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rex decides to stand back up.

Rex closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rex is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dennis has escaped the position, nice work there.

Dennis manages to get back to half guard.

Rex is working for a submission of some sort.
Dennis wants to get back to his feet.

Rex is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dennis is just riding it out for now. Rex eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dennis wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dennis wants to control but Rex is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rex throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Dennis is looking to control Rex's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dennis avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rex moves in looking to clinch but Dennis pushes him off.

Rex decides to return to a standing position.
Dennis fails to land the takedown.
Rex is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rex takes one to the chin there.

Rex moves in looking to clinch but Dennis pushes him off.
Jordan Dennis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dennis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jordan Dennis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dennis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rex misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dennis misses with a double jab.
Nice takedown defense from Rex. No joy for Dennis on that attempt.
Rex throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rex changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dennis tries to avoid it but Rex manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dennis to the ground. Dennis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dennis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rex controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Rex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dennis wants to hold on but Rex pushes him away.

Rex avoids the attempt from Dennis to control.
Rex prevents Dennis from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dennis is trying to reverse the position but instead Rex has taken his back - oops!
Rex controlling the position well here. Dennis rolled but Rex kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
I really don't envy Dennis right now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dennis is working hard here to advance position.
Jordan Dennis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyson Rex is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rex has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Dennis's body.

I've got Rex winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
