Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akoni Gray (ranked 2 p4p, 1 weight class) and Melek Taus (ranked 153 p4p, 22 weight class). Taus comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A Cry For Vengeance kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Melek Taus has the eye of the tiger tonight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

22 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melek Taus!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taus scores with a decent looking hook.
Taus throws a poor cross that misses
and Gray counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gray throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Taus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Taus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gray circles away quickly and effectively.
Melek Taus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taus throws an off balance right hand
and Gray counters with a head kick that drops Taus to the mat! Taus scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Gray fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Taus is still on wobbly legs! Can Gray finish him?
Taus looks to land a combination but Gray avoids it well.
A little feinted left hand from Gray on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Taus walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Taus counters with a good, hard body kick but Gray shrugs it off.
Gray fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Taus manages to avoid it.
Taus looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've been informed that Taus has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Gray throws a looping overhand right but Taus ducks down to avoid it.
Taus is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Taus thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gray if he has to take too many more of those.

Gray closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Taus feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gray's calf.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Taus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gray misses the jab.
A nice side step and Taus releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Taus throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gray connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Taus throws a head kick that misses.
A little feinted left hand from Gray on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Akoni Gray dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Gray counters with a good low kick that Taus was not able to check.

Gray throws a big counter combination but Taus scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Taus misses with a hook. Gray ducked under it nicely.

Gray throws a shot from downtown. Taus moves away and avoids it.

and Gray counters with a good, hard body kick but Taus shrugs it off.
Gray fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Taus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gray.
Gray moves out of range of the strikes.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Taus crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gray - the referee stops the clock and Taus gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gray. Taus manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Taus is breathing heavily.
Gray scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Taus doesn't seem bothered though.
Gray lands a big uppercut and Taus crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Taus looks OK. Gray waves Taus back to his feet!

Gray cracks Taus with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Taus looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Gray finish him?

Gray measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Taus! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Akoni Gray!

After winning the bout, Akoni Gray thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
