Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stud Toddler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimbo Kern! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kern throws a right hand that Toddler ducks under and follows up with a left that Toddler also avoids with ease. Toddler closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kern circles away. Toddler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kern as he avoids it easily. It seemed like Kern was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Kern throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. A quick step to the side and Toddler tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Kern moves into range and clinches up with Toddler. Toddler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Toddler steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kern. Toddler feinted with a counter takedown. Kern lands with a nice body punch. Kern tried to score with a low kick but Toddler checks it. Toddler shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stud Toddler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Toddler's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kern connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Toddler scrambles back to his feet. Kern throws a hook but Toddler avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Toddler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kern lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Toddler circles away quickly and effectively. Kern scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Kern is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Toddler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kern. Kern thows a huge punch but Toddler dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Toddler is holding on to half guard well. Kern works his way into side control. Kern wants to lay and pray for a moment but Toddler keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kern working the head and body with strikes. Kern goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Toddler has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kern but great work by Toddler.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kern wants to get back to his feet but Toddler drags him back down. Toddler decides to stand back up. Toddler steps back and let's Kern get back to his feet. Toddler tries to clinch up but Kern circles away and keeps his distance. Kern throws out a counter right but Toddler avoids it with no problem. Kern darts in trying to clinch and Toddler counters with a big head kick but Kern shrugs it off. Kern throws a lazy uppercut
and Toddler counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Jimbo Kern has been cut. Kern cracks Toddler with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Jimbo Kern seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kern is looking to clinch. Kern throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Toddler shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kern but Kern pushes him off and we're back to square one. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Toddler tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kern paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kern throws an off balance right hand
and Toddler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Toddler is defended easily by Kern.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Toddler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kern throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Toddler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Toddler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kern pinned against the cage. Kern gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kern tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Toddler paws at him with a jab and circles away. Toddler went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Toddler defending well as Kern loads up on a big left hand. Kern misses with a left hand and Toddler counters with a two punch combo. Kern looks winded! Kern wants to clinch but Toddler slips to the side and Toddler counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Kern to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Toddler!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Stud Toddler!
