Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aleksey Viktorov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Silver! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Viktorov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silver misses with a few strikes there.
Silver looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Silver looking to score a takedown here. Viktorov is defending well but Silver drives through and ends up in Viktorov's guard. Silver must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Viktorov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silver is aware though and is defending well. Silver wants to control from the top but Viktorov keeps moving. Silver is stalling in the full guard. Silver postures up in Viktorov's guard and throws a big left but Viktorov blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silver avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Silver preventing the sweep. Silver looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Silver throws an elbow that misses. Viktorov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silver's guard. Nice move by Viktorov! Silver keeping full guard, as Viktorov tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Viktorov trying to control the position from guard on top but Silver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Viktorov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silver is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Viktorov, into his guard. Silver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viktorov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Viktorov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Silver being controlled here momentarily. Viktorov seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Silver is working Viktorov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Silver throws a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silver with a flurry of punches that miss. Viktorov looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Silver passes into half guard.
Viktorov looking for submissions off his back. Viktorov wants to get back to full guard. Silver throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Silver tries to pass the half guard into mount. Viktorov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Silver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Viktorov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Silver there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Viktorov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silver is working away from the top position though. Silver throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ground and pound from Silver. Silver wants to take a breather but Viktorov is having none of it. Viktorov is looking to control Silver's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Viktorov avoid being mounted? Viktorov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Viktorov trying to hold on to Silver's head to control him but Silver postures up.
Silver is stalling here. Viktorov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Silver seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Viktorov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Silver dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Viktorov takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The fighters circling - Silver throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Silver has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Silver uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Viktorov has time to react. Viktorov instigates a clinch. Silver has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Viktorov tries to pull guard but Silver holds him up against the cage and eventually Viktorov drops back down to his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Silver's face as he tries to break the clinch. Viktorov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Silver to keep the fight standing. Viktorov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Silver breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Good standup being displayed there by Silver as he connects with a hook. Viktorov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silver swats him away and circles back towards the center. Some wild striking there from Silver.

Silver swings for the body but Viktorov moves out of range.
Viktorov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silver lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Silver. Silver connects with an inside leg kick. Viktorov tries to clinch up. Viktorov tries to clinch but fails miserably and Viktorov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Silver fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Viktorov to the ground. Silver is now in Viktorov's guard. Viktorov is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Silver rolls with it to try and escape but Viktorov cranks on the arm and Silver is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
