Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tumleh Schmitt (ranked 2528 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Wright (ranked 5781 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Tumleh Schmitt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Ethan Wright! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schmitt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schmitt is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Schmitt circles away and we're back to standing. Wright moves in looking to clinch but Schmitt pushes him off. Schmitt seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Schmitt tries to land a front kick but Wright steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Schmitt looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Wright is trying hard to land a takedown here. Schmitt sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Schmitt attempts a counter takedown but Wright avoids it well and moves away. Tumleh Schmitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Wright. Wright has a takedown stuffed. Wright looks for a takedown but Schmitt sprawls well. Wright will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Schmitt rushes Wright and presses him up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schmitt scores a nice knee to the body.

Schmitt stops a takedown attempt from Wright.
Wright goes for a takedown attempt but Schmitt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Schmitt lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Schmitt, right into the meat.

Schmitt slaps away a takedown attempt from Wright, before circling back to the center of the mat. Schmitt tries to counter by clinching up but Wright breaks away and moves out of range. Wright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schmitt sprawls well. Schmitt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wright gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright misses with a double jab.
Wright fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. It looked like Schmitt was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Wright dodges the punch combination from Schmitt.
Wright throws a counter combo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice takedown defense from Schmitt. No joy for Wright on that attempt. Schmitt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wright did well to prevent Schmitt getting side control. Wright is looking to improve his position.
Schmitt controlling the action here. Schmitt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wright doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schmitt. Wright won't allow Schmitt to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright tries to roll over but Schmitt keeps him under control. Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schmitt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wright keeps trying to improve his position. Schmitt is looking to advance position but Wright won't allow it. Wright felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Schmitt prevents Wright from improving his position. Schmitt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wright is trying to control but can't.
Wright is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Schmitt is staying active. We've been hearing that Schmitt has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Schmitt is working for a kimura but Wright is defending it quite comfortably.
Schmitt not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wright is trying to maintain the position but Schmitt is very close to passing his half guard. Schmitt passes into side control, despite Wright's attempt to control the position.

Tumleh Schmitt dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Wright goes for a double leg but Schmitt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Schmitt continues to drive forward. Wright misses with a takedown and Schmitt counters with a solid body kick. Schmitt displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wright. Tumleh Schmitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Wright. Schmitt fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Schmitt lands with a nice body kick. Wright closes this distance looking for a takedown but Schmitt circles away. Wright defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schmitt. As Schmitt backs off Wright throws a huge counter combo but Schmitt manages to avoid it all. A good leg kick by Schmitt. Wright tries to clinch there but Schmitt circles away.

He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Schmitt is working Wright over against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schmitt lands on the inside with an uppercut. Wright goes for a takedown attempt but Schmitt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
No joy there for Schmitt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ethan Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schmitt displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wright. Schmitt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wright can do to turn this around? Excellent takedown into side control there by Schmitt. Tumleh Schmitt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Schmitt throwing shots but missing, from side control. Wright tries to improve position but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schmitt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Schmitt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright wants to control but Schmitt postures up. Wright tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schmitt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Wright controls the position for a moment. Wright struggling a bit here.

Schmitt has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Wright is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Schmitt yanks on the arm and Wright is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Schmitt.
