Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Average! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Morales! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Average has taken the fight to the clinch.
Morales tries to throw a body punch but Average avoids it by throwing Morales back against the cage. Morales breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Morales with a nice cross. Average throws a hook but Morales avoids it easily. Average tries to clinch there but Morales circles away.
Morales wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. We've been hearing reports that Average has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Average shoots in and drives through. Morales sprawls well. Average tries to clinch up but Morales circles away and keeps his distance. The fight moves into the clinch position. Average has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Morales after a bit of a struggle. Average tries to score a body lock takedown but Morales shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Average. That's going to take a lot out of him. Average goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morales prevents the takedown attempt.

Morales throws a punch but it's blocked by Average. Morales misses with a hook from the clinch. Average is trying to drag Morales to the mat but Morales just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Average lands with a short punch from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morales misses with a punch to the body.
Average is looking to take this one to the mat. Average gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Average got a little sloppy there for a moment and Morales has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Average has managed to get both his arms back between Morales's legs - danger averted. Average looking to pass the guard. Average preventing the sweep. Morales is trying to control the position but Average postures up. Morales looking to hit a scissor sweep but Average is one step ahead there. Morales is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Morales not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morales decides to stand and escape the position. Morales loads up on a big right hand but Average slips the punch. Morales takes a body punch but keeps moving. Morales scores with a jab to the body. Average shoots in and drives through. Morales sprawls well. Morales connects with a looping right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Average tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Morales was well out of range. Poor timing from Average. Average gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Morales counters with a series of strikes. Average will be more careful next time no doubt. Morales fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Average to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Average looks to clinch but Morales throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Average taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
