Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robert Bartkiewicz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rick Ambe!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ambe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bartkiewicz wants to sweep here but Ambe controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ambe postures up in Bartkiewicz's guard and throws a big left but Bartkiewicz blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bartkiewicz is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ambe can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bartkiewicz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ambe's coach down at Island Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ambe's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bartkiewicz is looking to take a break and control but Ambe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ambe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bartkiewicz to the ground. Ambe is now in Bartkiewicz's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Bartkiewicz will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bartkiewicz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bartkiewicz shoots in looking for a takedown. Ambe tries to sprawl out of it but Bartkiewicz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ambe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ambe changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Ambe shoots in and bounces Bartkiewicz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ambe connects with a nice short shot to Bartkiewicz's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ambe is keen to just control but Bartkiewicz is a slippery customer.

Rick Ambe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ambe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
