2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kwin Griffin! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antonio gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Griffin to score an easy takedown into full guard. Antonio has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Griffin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Kwin Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Griffin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Antonio explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Griffin looks winded! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Antonio steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Griffin. Antonio swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Griffin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Antonio tried to counter with a leg kick but Griffin avoided it. Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there. Antonio kicks off Griffin and gets to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin wants to clinch. Griffin misses with a hook. As Griffin backs away, Antonio returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Griffin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Antonio has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Griffin after a bit of a struggle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin jumps into guard, dragging Antonio to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Antonio drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Antonio jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Griffin screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Antonio! Nice submission victory there!
