Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miliki Monotowa (ranked 1619 p4p, 212 weight class) and Yuri Maltsev (ranked 1426 p4p, 194 weight class). Monotowa comes to the cage accompanied by Somewhere over the rainbow. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Miliki Monotowa! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yuri Maltsev! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monotowa dives in and grabs Maltsev's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maltsev pushes down on Monotowa's head and hops out. Monotowa fails with a takedown attempt. Monotowa keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Maltsev. Nice jab there from Maltsev. Monotowa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maltsev defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miliki Monotowa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Monotowa tries to clinch but Maltsev moves out of range. Maltsev now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Monotowa tries to clinch but Maltsev moves away and Maltsev counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monotowa doesn't succeed with the takedown and Maltsev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Monotowa tries to clinch there but Maltsev circles away.
Monotowa tries to clinch up but Maltsev circles away and keeps his distance. Monotowa tries to close the distance and clinch but Maltsev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Monotowa fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monotowa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Monotowa. Monotowa fails with an attempt to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Maltsev! But no joy. Monotowa fails with a takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Maltsev as Monotowa shoots in. The fight stays on the outside here - Monotowa looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Monotowa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A nice side step and Maltsev releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Maltsev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Monotowa tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Maltsev counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Monotowa thinking.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monotowa looks for a takedown but Maltsev sprawls well. Monotowa takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Maltsev throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monotowa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Monotowa has a takedown stuffed. Maltsev fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Monotowa is breathing heavily. Monotowa fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Maltsev avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Monotowa tries to clinch up and Maltsev makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yuri Maltsev dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Monotowa closes the distance but Maltsev moves to the side and Maltsev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Yuri Maltsev seems to be getting the better of the standup. Monotowa throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Maltsev's head. Maltsev lands a jab to Monotowa's midsection. Nice takedown defense from Maltsev. No joy for Monotowa on that attempt. Monotowa wants to clinch. Monotowa throws a head kick that misses. Monotowa tries to close the distance and clinch but Maltsev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Maltsev misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Monotowa dives in for a single leg takedown but Maltsev sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A nice side step and Maltsev releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Monotowa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Maltsev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maltsev looks to throw the jab but Monotowa is out of range. Monotowa throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Maltsev makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Maltsev fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Monotowa manages to avoid it. Monotowa takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Monotowa throws a head kick that misses. Maltsev pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Monotowa looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Monotowa closes the distance and clinches. Monotowa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Monotowa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Maltsev smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miliki Monotowa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from Maltsev as Monotowa shoots in. Maltsev is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Monotowa rather than just go for the knockout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Maltsev's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Maltsev duly obliges.
It looks like Miliki Monotowa has been cut. Maltsev throws a lazy right hand but Monotowa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Monotowa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maltsev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Monotowa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. This has been an exciting period of action! Monotowa with a poor takedown letting Maltsev counter with a right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monotowa walks into a straight right hand from Maltsev. Maltsev throws out a loose jab but Monotowa uses good head movement to avoid it. Monotowa moves to clinch but Maltsev breaks away and Monotowa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Maltsev throws a body punch but Monotowa moves out of range. Maltsev leaves Monotowa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A cross from Maltsev lands. Monotowa shoots in but Maltsev avoids the takedown attempt easily. Monotowa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Monotowa tries to clinch and Maltsev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Maltsev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Maltsev appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yuri Maltsev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Miliki Monotowa's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Monotowa wants to clinch up but Maltsev keeps it at a distance. It seemed like Maltsev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Monotowa doesn't succeed with the takedown and Maltsev counters with a nice uppercut. Miliki Monotowa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Monotowa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Maltsev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Maltsev misses with a shot to the body and Monotowa counters with a flying knee. Nice. Maltsev connects with a body shot that sends Monotowa's belly button to the back. Monotowa tries to clinch and Maltsev counters with a lovely straight right hand! Monotowa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Monotowa takes a shot right to the bread basket. Nice jab there from Maltsev. Monotowa darts in trying to clinch and Maltsev counters with a crisp one two that drops Monotowa! Maltsev thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Monotowa to his feet! Monotowa is in big trouble!
Monotowa is rocked! Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maltsev drops Monotowa with a huge uppercut! Monotowa drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Maltsev is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
