Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Southern Goon (ranked 2196 p4p, 246 weight class) and Brandin Duncan (ranked 3731 p4p, 385 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Southern Goon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandin Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Goon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Duncan feints the counter takedown.
Duncan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Duncan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Goon.
Duncan changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Goon lands a jab to Duncan's midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goon connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Duncan's hands.


It looks like Brandin Duncan has been cut.
Duncan on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goon throws a looping overhand right but Duncan ducks down to avoid it.
Duncan takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Goon misses with an uppercut.
Duncan tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Duncan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goon misses with a body shot.
Goon is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Goon scores with a body shot.
Duncan avoids the body shot from Goon.
And Duncan tries to counter it with a takedown but Goon pushes his down on his head and steps out.
A left lands for Goon.
Goon throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Duncan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Goon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Goon is looking for a sweep. Duncan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Duncan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Duncan is trying to work for a kimura but Goon is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duncan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Goon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Goon is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duncan maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Goon could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Duncan has cracked it and Goon is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Duncan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brandin Duncan!
After the fight, Brandin Duncan was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
