Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Micah Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hector Morales!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Morales doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hawk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Morales manages to avoid it.
Hawk avoids the body shot from Morales.
Morales lands a jab to Hawk's midsection.
Morales throws a jab but it's blocked by Hawk.
Morales loads up on a big right hand but Hawk slips the punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Morales. Hawk does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hawk feinted with a counter takedown.
Nice straight punches there by Morales. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Morales.

Hector Morales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hawk is trying to drag Morales to the mat but Morales just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Morales is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Morales told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Hawk looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Hawk lands a slapping body shot.
Hawk throws an off balance right hand
and Morales counters with a right hand to the body.
Hawk misses with a left hand
and Morales counters with a right hand to the body.
Morales misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hawk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hawk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Morales won't be happy with that.
Morales has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hawk works to advance to full mount. Morales defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Hawk with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Hawk has hold of Morales's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Morales manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hawk is looking to work his way around to Morales's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Morales has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Morales is trying to get back to his feet but Hawk has full control of the position and if anything, Morales has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Morales is really stuck here.
Hawk is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

I really don't envy Morales right now.
