Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Silvio Dante (ranked 1398 p4p, 161 weight class) and Neal Diaz (ranked 1682 p4p, 194 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Silvio Dante!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neal Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Diaz drops his hands momentarily and Dante takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Dante keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Dante is looking to counter punch.
Dante scores with a jab to the jaw.
Dante ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away.
Diaz shoots for a takedown but Dante saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dante just misses with a punch to the body.
Diaz wants to counter the offense by Dante and move into the clinch position.

Diaz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Diaz is trying to trip Dante. He has hold of a leg but Dante is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Diaz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dante is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea.
Diaz slips nicely into half guard.
Well, if Diaz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dante is looking to escape.
Dante is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Diaz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dante knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Diaz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dante blocking the ground and pound attempt from Diaz.
Dante wants to get back to his feet.
Dante is refusing to be controlled, as Diaz sits in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dante pushes Diaz off looking to stand but Diaz dives back in and keeps control.
Diaz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dante throws a good cross that connects.
Dante connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Dante leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Silvio Dante has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Neal Diaz.
Diaz defending well as Dante loads up on a big left hand.

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.

Dante uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Dante.
A little jabbing left from Diaz on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Diaz tries to clinch there but Dante circles away.
Dante scores with a jab to the jaw.

Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Dante has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Diaz is on him like a limpet, forcing Dante back against the cage.
Diaz is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dante is defending well for now.
Dante throws a head punch that misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Diaz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Diaz lands with a right to the head.
Diaz blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Diaz lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Dante lands a shoulder strike.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Diaz.
Diaz blocking some punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dante.
A head punch on the inside from Dante fails to land.
Diaz blocking some punches.
Dante swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dante walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but Dante sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diaz moves out of range as Dante strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Dante.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.
Diaz is trying to drag Dante to the mat but Dante just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Diaz gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silvio Dante dominated that round.
That's time! Dante's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dante throws a jab when Diaz was well out of range.
Diaz tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Dante counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Diaz shoots in but Dante avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Diaz closes the distance looking to clinch
and Dante counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dante misses with a hook. Diaz ducked under it nicely.
Neal Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dante connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Neal Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Oooooh!!! Diaz has knocked Dante down with a huge combo! Diaz steps away and waves a wobbly Dante back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Dante is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dante misses with a straight right.
Oh Dante is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Diaz is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Dante is in big trouble! Diaz is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Dante. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Neal Diaz!
A determined Neal Diaz didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
