Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gniewomir Lach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjorn Ragnarsson! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ragnarsson thows a left - swing and a miss! Lach tries to close the distance and clinch but Ragnarsson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lach fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Lach misses with a wild body shot. Ragnarsson is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Lach blocks a jab. Lach lands a leg kick that knocks Ragnarsson off balance momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ragnarsson tries to keep at a distance but Lach has taken the fight into the clinch. We've been informed that Ragnarsson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Ragnarsson lands on the inside with an uppercut.
It looks like Gniewomir Lach has been cut. Lach pushes Ragnarsson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Bjorn Ragnarsson has been cut. Lach lands a nice shot to the body. Ragnarsson looks winded! Lach tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lach lands a shoulder strike. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ragnarsson. Lach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A slow jab from Ragnarsson misses its intended target. Lach feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ragnarsson's calf. Lach drops Ragnarsson with a beautiful combination! Ragnarsson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lach is looking for the KO!
Ragnarsson is rocked! Lach works Ragnarsson's body with a nice hook. Gniewomir Lach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ragnarsson tries to get into range but Lach steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Ragnarsson! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Lach scores the big KO victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gniewomir Lach! Our winner, Gniewomir Lach, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
