Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Robertson (ranked 4471 p4p, 481 weight class) and Johnathon Ray (ranked 6200 p4p, 567 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Robertson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnathon Ray! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robertson thumps Ray with a low kick. Sloppy strikes from Robertson. Those never looked like landing. Robertson avoids the head kick by Ray.
Robertson quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Ray connects with the punch. Ray rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Robertson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ray digs a good body shot into Robertson's ribs. Ray rushes Robertson and presses him up against the cage. Ray is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. A head punch on the inside from Ray fails to land. Ray tries to stall but Robertson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Robertson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ray's efforts to push away. Robertson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Robertson lands with a left to the head. I was talking to Robertson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Ray drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Robertson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ray has Robertson in his guard. Robertson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Robertson tries to score a body lock takedown but Ray shows good agility there to stay on his feet. The referee calls for Ray to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ray shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Robertson eats them both and turns towards Ray to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Ray scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Ray stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ray wants it to stay on the feet. Ray rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Robertson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ray lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Ray thuds a left hand into Robertson's body. Ray comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ray gets underhooks to prevent Robertson's takedown attempt.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. A right-left combo lands from Ray. Johnathon Ray is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Robertson swings wildly with an uppercut but Ray uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnathon Ray comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Ray winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
