Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 3966 p4p, 421 weight class) and David Danis (ranked 5789 p4p, 506 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anderson Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Danis! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Danis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva. Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva connects with a jab. Danis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Danis closes the distance and clinches. Silva throws a punch but it's blocked by Danis. Silva misses with a knee to the head. Silva tries for a takedown. No joy.
Danis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Danis circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Danis gets the takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Danis trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom. Danis gets to mount! Silva was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danis is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.
Danis thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Danis throws some wild stikes that Silva manages to avoid easily.
Danis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Danis working for a guillotine from mount but Silva is in no mood to give up. Silva is looking to improve his position but Danis isn't that keen on the idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva is working hard here to advance position. Danis thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Danis punching from mount but Silva doing a good job of avoiding damage. Danis looking to control but Silva is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Danis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Silva is trying to escape the mount.
Danis trying to control but Silva is having none of it. Danis dominating with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Danis trying to control but he's not successful this time. Danis tries to push Silva's head away but Silva is holding on tight. Danis looking for a guillotine from mount but Silva is having none of it. Danis wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely. Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't. Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Danis on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Silva is squirming around, avoiding Danis's attempts to control the action. Danis controlling from the full mount. Danis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape. Silva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Danis dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Silva connects with the punch. Danis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Danis tries to counter by closing the distance. Danis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Danis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva. Silva wants to clinch up but Danis keeps it at a distance. Danis leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Silva tries for a takedown but Danis circles away easily and Danis counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Danis jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Danis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Danis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Silva! Silva tries to reverse the position but Danis maintains control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danis working away from the top, dropping strikes. Silva blocking the ground and pound. Silva tries to improve his position but instead Danis has taken his back! Silva trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Silva tries to escape but Danis has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Danis throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Danis somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad spot.
Silva has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Danis. Danis scores with punches and elbows. Danis has managed to slip his arm under Silva's chin. This could be all over... yep, Silva is tapping out! Submission win for Danis.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Danis! David Danis was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
