PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Butch Kraven (ranked 6581 p4p, 592 weight class) and Maciej Kierzkowski (ranked 4725 p4p, 491 weight class). Kraven kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Green Light. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Butch Kraven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maciej Kierzkowski!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kierzkowski gets caught napping as Kraven dives in and scores a takedown. Kierzkowski manages to retain guard.
Kierzkowski wants to sweep here but Kraven controlling him for the moment.
Kierzkowski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kraven manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kraven changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kierzkowski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kraven thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kierzkowski is not content to let Kraven control the position.
Kierzkowski is looking for a sweep.

Kraven is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kierzkowski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kierzkowski is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Kierzkowski has his hands clasped together around Kraven's back. He's all about the action.
Kierzkowski wants to control but Kraven is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kraven is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Kierzkowski's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kraven is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kierzkowski defends well.
Kierzkowski is working Kraven over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kraven is looking for a triangle but Kierzkowski pushes his legs off easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Butch Kraven will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kierzkowski takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Kraven fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kierzkowski, pushing him back against the cage.

Kraven ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kraven no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kierzkowski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kraven has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kierzkowski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kierzkowski is continuing to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Maciej Kierzkowski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kraven is looking to take a break and control but Kierzkowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kierzkowski can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kraven bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kraven has hold of Kierzkowski's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kierzkowski manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kierzkowski has left one of his arms exposed and Kraven doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kierzkowski screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

A less than humble Butch Kraven misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
