Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Malik Battle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Mickael! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Battle stalling in the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Battle can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight. Battle swings wildly with an uppercut but Mickael uses good head movement to avoid it. Mickael blocks an elbow strike from Battle.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Malik Battle. Mickael scoring well with a low kick there.
Battle checks the leg kick. Battle swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Igor Mickael seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Battle uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mickael.
That's one minute gone in the round. Battle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mickael was covering up waiting for the punch and Battle finishes the takedown easily into guard. Mickael is looking to stand back up but Battle counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mickael. Mickael works his way to full guard. Good work. Battle throws a big right hand that misses. Mickael looking to hit a scissor sweep but Battle is one step ahead there. Mickael pulls Battle in to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Battle postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Battle trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Battle postures up in Mickael's guard and throws a big left but Mickael blocks it. Mickael wants to sweep but no luck. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mickael is on top in guard.
Mickael is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Battle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mickael working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Battle's head. Battle really is a fat lump. Battle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mickael defends it easily. Mickael is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mickael controls from within his opponent's guard. Mickael connects with a couple of short punches. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mickael's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Battle tries to land a sweep but no joy. Battle thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Mickael decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Mickael moves into range and clinches up with Battle. A battle for position here, against the cage. Mickael is leaning against Battle and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Mickael pulls guard effortlessly. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Battle stands up over Mickael, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mickael looking for a guillotine here but Battle defends easily.
Mickael seems keen to control Battle's posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Igor Mickael dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Battle defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mickael. Mickael rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Battle moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mickael with a lazy takedown attempt and Battle counters with a nice uppercut. Mickael closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mickael wants a takedown.
Malik Battle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Mickael. Battle looking to slow down the pace here. Battle is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Battle using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mickael has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mickael is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Battle can't fight it off and eventually Mickael manages to take the fight to the floor. Battle looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Mickael is in close to Battle's body, working some short punches and elbows. Mickael with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Battle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mickael wants to control from the top but Battle keeps moving. Mickael avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mickael trying to control but Battle is working from the bottom. Battle is trying to keep Mickael in close.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Mickael controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mickael has his takedown stuffed and Battle counters with an outside leg kick.

Mickael dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Battle flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Battle is not content to let Mickael control the position. Battle is trying to control but can't.

That was a close second round but I would say that Malik Battle will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Mickael takes the fight into the clinch. Battle throws a punch but it's blocked by Mickael. Battle is pushing Mickael up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Mickael wants the takedown. Battle is fighting it off but Mickael persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Battle's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Battle is trying to control the position but Mickael postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Battle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mickael doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mickael manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Battle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mickael can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Battle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Battle manages to kick Mickael off! Mickael jumps back into Battle's guard. Mickael throwing strikes but missing. Mickael decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Battle clinches up against the cage. Malik Battle has scored more points in the clinch so far.

Battle trying to control the position but instead, Mickael has worked for underhooks and has pushed Battle into the cage. Battle throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mickaels head. Battle's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Battle looking to throw knees to the head but Mickael is blocking nicely.

Battle throws a big right hand that misses. Mickael bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Battle's guard.
Igor Mickael has got the better of the ground game so far. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mickael postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Igor Mickael. I think Mickael has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
