The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraetos fails with the takedown
and McFarland counters with a stiff right hand.
McFarland misses with a wild combination.
Kraetos tries for a takedown but McFarland sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McFarland half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

McFarland has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kraetos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McFarland. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McFarland seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kraetos for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kraetos wants to get back to striking at distance but McFarland won't allow it.
Kraetos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McFarland has him pressed against the cage.
McFarland lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kraetos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McFarland smiles and moves away.

Kraetos closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McFarland quickly recovers to half guard.

McFarland has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kraetos is on him like a limpet, forcing McFarland back against the cage.

A nice right hand lands inside from McFarland.
Kraetos tries to pull guard but McFarland holds him up against the cage and eventually Kraetos drops back down to his feet.
McFarland scores with an uppercut up the middle.
McFarland lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kraetos backwards.

McFarland is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kraetos can't fight it off and eventually McFarland manages to take the fight to the floor. Kraetos looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

McFarland will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kraetos up against the cage.
