Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christian Neffgen (ranked 2887 p4p, 343 weight class) and Rodrigo Escobar (ranked 4973 p4p, 507 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christian Neffgen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Escobar! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escobar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Escobar lands a nice shot that snaps Neffgen's head back.
Neffgen instigates a clinch. Neffgen is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Escobar lands a body shot in the clinch.
Escobar blocks an elbow strike from Neffgen.
Escobar lands a right hand. A head punch blocked on the inside by Neffgen. A battle for position here, against the cage. Escobar lands a nice uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar blocks an elbow strike. Escobar tries to throw a body punch but Neffgen avoids it by throwing Escobar back against the cage. Neffgen pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Escobar lands a shoulder strike. Escobar misses with a short punch on the inside. Escobar misses with some punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Escobar misses with a body punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escobar lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Neffgen prevents a body shot from Escobar. Escobar lands a hook to the side of the head. Escobar lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Neffgen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Escobar uses from the top position. Escobar preventing the sweep. Neffgen is breathing heavily. Escobar engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Let's hope that Escobar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Escobar wants to get up but he can't break Neffgen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar looking to pass the guard. Escobar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Escobar sitting in guard, not really doing much. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Escobar trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Neffgen manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Neffgen prevents Escobar from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neffgen throws a strike but Escobar rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Escobar content to stall in guard here. Escobar passes easily into side control. Nice work. Escobar controlling the position from side mount. Escobar is continuing to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neffgen wants to control but Escobar postures up. Escobar stands up and we're back to a striking position. Escobar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Neffgen, pushing him back against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A head punch on the inside from Escobar fails to land. Escobar lands a body shot in the clinch.

Escobar digs a right hand underneath Neffgen's ribcage. Neffgen let out a lung full of air as it connected. Escobar lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rodrigo Escobar dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Neffgen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Neffgen is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round! Escobar connects with a stiff jab that staggers Neffgen - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
