Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Barnkvist (ranked 858 p4p, 125 weight class) and Rip Snorten (ranked 803 p4p, 117 weight class). Snorten has chosen Sound of Silence as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snorten cracks a nice hook into Barnkvist's ribs.
We've been told by Barnkvist's head coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Snorten throws out a loose jab but Barnkvist uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Snorten takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Snorten drops his hands momentarily and Barnkvist takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Snorten has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Snorten is pressed up against the cage. Barnkvist has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Snorten down to the mat. Snorten avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

BOOM! Snorten connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Barnkvist is rocked!
Snorten postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Barnkvist bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Snorten and the fight is over!
