Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathaniel Osborne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elijah Rufino!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rufino pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rufino throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Osborne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Osborne.

Rufino pushes Osborne off and gets back to his feet.
Osborne really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Osborne gets caught napping as Rufino dives in and scores a takedown. Osborne manages to retain guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Osborne tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rufino throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Osborne is striking but Rufino is not phased and passes to half guard.

Osborne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rufino clinches up against the cage.
Osborne prevents Rufino from breaking the clinch.

Osborne is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rufino is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Osborne to the mat. Osborne regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Osborne throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rufino escapes and throws Osborne's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Osborne is looking to regain half guard here but Rufino keeps moving and retains side control.
Osborne throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Osborne lands a nice short elbow.
Rufino holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Osborne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Osborne scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elijah Rufino dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Rufino tries to score with a low kick but Osborne moves his leg out of the way.

Rufino closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Osborne to the mat! Osborne manages to get full guard.

Osborne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rufino pulls his head out easily.
Rufino has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rufino moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Osborne has worked his arm free - good work by Osborne!

Rufino is trying to get an arm triangle but Osborne is defending well.

Osborne misses with a strike from the bottom.
Rufino wants to control for a moment but Osborne uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Osborne flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Rufino is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Osborne is staying active underneath Rufino, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rufino will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Rufino shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rufino was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Osborne looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rufino has picked Osborne up and slammed him! Osborne can't keep hold of the triangle and Rufino manages to pass to side control!
Osborne wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Osborne tries to improve position but can't.

Rufino tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rufino has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rufino stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elijah Rufino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Rufino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Osborne doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Osborne manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Osborne got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rufino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Osborne has managed to get both his arms back between Rufino's legs - danger averted.

Osborne has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rufino after a bit of a struggle.

Rufino has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Osborne regains guard immediately.

Elijah Rufino is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Rufino has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
