The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximum closes the distance but Chandler moves to the side

and Chandler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Maximum's guard.

Chandler drops back looking for a leg! Maximum is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maximum manages to kick Chandler off! Chandler jumps back into Maximum's guard.

Maximum not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chandler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Maximum darts in and clinches Chandler up against the cage.

Maximum has Chandler pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Chandler manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Chandler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Chandler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maximum.
Maximum wants to clinch up but Chandler keeps it at a distance.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chandler lands a nice short elbow.

Chandler stops Maximum from getting back to his feet.
Chandler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Maximum with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Chandler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Maximum is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chandler, into his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chandler wants to get back to his feet but Maximum is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Maximum goes for a double leg but Chandler avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Chandler continues to drive forward.

Maximum shoots in and bounces Chandler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Chandler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maximum, who protects the arm well.

Chandler swings around for an armbar but Maximum sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chandler's guard.

Chandler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maximum gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chandler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maximum can do to turn this around?

Chandler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maximum escapes and throws Chandler's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Chandler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maximum wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Chandler is trying to maintain the position but Maximum is very close to passing his half guard.
Maximum is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Maximum just misses with a elbow thrown towards Chandler's brow.
Maximum jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chandler walks away with a smile on his face. Maximum gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Chandler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maximum for as long as he can get away with.
