Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Deertay (ranked 4456 p4p, 147 weight class) and Jonah Rock (ranked 5079 p4p, 167 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joey Deertay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonah Rock! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deertay tries for a takedown but Rock circles away easily and Rock counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Deertay throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rock counters with a one-two to the body. Rock scores with a kick to the midsection. Deertay moves into range and clinches up with Rock. Rock tries to break free but Deertay pushes him back against the cage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Deertay.
It looks like Jonah Rock has been cut. Deertay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rock uses from the top position. Deertay is looking for a triangle but Rock pushes his legs off easily.
Rock preventing the sweep. Deertay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rock defends it easily. Rock really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deertay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rock engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Deertay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rock defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deertay has his foot on Rock's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rock works his way back into a safe position though. Deertay looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Deertay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rock trying to control the position from guard on top but Deertay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've been hearing good reports from Deertay's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Deertay wants to hit a switch here but Rock passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Deertay there! Deertay tries to hold on but Rock postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rock misses with a head shot. Deertay is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Deertay is squirming around, avoiding Rock's attempts to control the action. Deertay can't escape the position.
Deertay sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Deertay manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Deertay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rock avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Deertay gets full guard. Deertay is looking for a triangle but Rock pushes his legs off easily.
Deertay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Deertay keeping moving, preventing Rock from controlling successfully. Rock forces his way into half guard. Rock wants to pass the guard but Deertay is defending well. Deertay looking for submissions off his back. Deertay gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Deertay dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jonah Rock's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Deertay circles away from the clinch attempt.
Deertay shoots in looking for a takedown but Rock manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Deertay's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Rock steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Deertay. Rock fails with a takedown attempt. Deertay rushes Rock and presses him up against the cage. Deertay tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rock avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Deertay works on Rock's body with a couple of short punches. Rock fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Rock manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rock throws a right and a left that both miss. Deertay is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rock can do to turn this around? Rock lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jab by Rock. Deertay shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rock napping and manages to drive through into side control! Rock is breathing heavily. Deertay controlling the position from side mount. Deertay trying to control the position but Rock is working away. Deertay moves into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deertay trying to control but Rock is having none of it. Deertay wants to take his opponent's back but Rock doesn't allow it. Deertay controlling from the full mount. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Deertay looking to control but Rock is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Deertay seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Rock is holding on tight.
Deertay working for a guillotine from mount but Rock is in no mood to give up. Joey Deertay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rock stops Deertay from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Rock is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Deertay controlling from mount. Deertay wants to control the pace but Rock is squirming around nicely. Deertay moves to the back. Deertay is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rock has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Deertay sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Rock taps out!
