The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syndal keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Larkin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Larkin throws a leg kick but Syndal sees it coming and moves out of range.
Syndal throws a jab but it's blocked by Larkin.
Larkin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Larkin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Larkin looks to land a right hand but Syndal moved out of range.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Syndal might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Larkin has got the better of the exchanges.

Larkin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Syndal takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Larkin wants to control but Syndal is keeping him busy.

Larkin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Larkin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Syndal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Larkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Syndal keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Syndal tries to improve position but can't.
An elbow from Larkin crashes against the mat.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Syndal throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Larkin missing with a left hand there. Syndal was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Larkin shoots in for a double leg but Syndal sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Syndal scores with a hook to the body. Larkin takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

and Syndal counters with a stiff right hand.
Larkin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Syndal defends it nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Syndal! But no joy.

Syndal ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Maverick Syndal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Larkin throws a hook but Syndal avoids it easily.
Syndal blocks a low kick nicely.
Syndal throws a body shot but no joy.
Syndal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Larkin manages to avoid it.
Larkin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Larkin shoots in looking for a takedown. Syndal tries to sprawl out of it but Larkin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Syndal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Larkin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Larkin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Syndal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Syndal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patty Larkin.
Well Larkin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
