Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Burks (ranked 7145 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Tate (ranked 4701 p4p, 0 weight class). TJ Tate has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Boris Burks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, TJ Tate! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tate closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Burks is looking for a sweep. Tate controlling the position from side mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burks is trying to control Tate's posture but Tate avoids it. Tate tries to move into full mount but can't pass Burks's legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tate is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Burks will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Tate is looking to take a break and control but Burks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tate goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Burks rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tate's guard! Nice work there by Burks! Tate wants to sweep here but Burks controlling him for the moment. Burks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tate can do anything to dispel that myth. Burks trying to control the position from guard on top but Tate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Burks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Burks throwing strikes from guard but Tate blocks nicely. Tate looking for a sweep. Not yet Tate, not yet. Burks with a nice head shot there. Burks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burks controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tate is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Burks is controlling him. Burks tries to free his leg and advance position but Tate is retaining full guard. Tate can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Burks controls the pace. Burks postures up in Tate's guard and throws a big left but Tate blocks it. Burks looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Tate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tate utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Burks clinches up with Tate and pushes him back against the cage. Burks can't break the clinch.
Burks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Tate gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Burks.
Burks is looking to break free of the clinch but Tate has double underhooks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tate has taken the fight to the clinch.
Burks wants to break the clinch but can't.
Tate decides to pull guard. Tate manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Burks manages to get himself to full guard.
Burks looking for a guillotine here but Tate defends easily.
Burks throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Tate must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tate trying to control but Burks is working from the bottom. Tate engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tate gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Tate dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Tate shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Burks is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Tate has his hands clasped together but Burks extends and breaks Tate's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Burks.
