PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wallace Cobb (ranked 2099 p4p, 268 weight class) and Bobby Wangler (ranked 1854 p4p, 239 weight class). Wangler has chosen The Clash - I Fought The Law as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wallace Cobb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby Wangler!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wangler looks for a takedown but Cobb sprawls well.

Cobb clinches up against the cage.
Cobb scores with a shoulder strike.
Cobb throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wanglers head.
Cobb tries a body shot but Wangler blocks it.
Wangler is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cobb gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Cobb throws a punch but it's blocked by Wangler.
Cobb lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Wangler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wangler shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cobb defends it nicely.
Wallace Cobb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Wangler.

Wangler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cobb tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wangler is in Cobb's guard.
Cobb is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wangler dives into side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Cobb's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cobb takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wangler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cobb keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wangler prevents Cobb from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cobb is pushing Wangler's head away, looking to escape. Wangler manages to hold on to the position though.
Wangler looks up at the clock and then as Cobb takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wangler smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Cobb is trying to buck Wangler off.
Wangler has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Fenrir MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Cobb is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wangler asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Wangler tries to advance to mount but can't.

Wangler is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cobb is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cobb bucks up and throws Wangler to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wangler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cobb counters with a left to the body.
Nice defenses there by Wangler.
Wangler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cobb's waist but Cobb gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wangler off to one side.
Wangler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wangler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Wangler dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cobb lands a brutal head kick. Wangler looks out on his feet and Cobb throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Wallace Cobb!
