The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kassib looking to slow down the pace here.
Pereira on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kassib breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kassib misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A head kick by Kassib misses
and Pereira counters with a left and a right that stings Kassib.
Pereira misses with a few strikes there.
Kassib is looking to clinch.
As Kassib looks to move away, Pereira throws a big counter combo but Kassib just gets out of the way.
Kassib has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kassib's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Pereira has Kassib pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pereira pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kassib tumbling to the mat - Pereira dives into Kassib's guard.
Kassib wants to get back to his feet but Pereira passes into half guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pereira's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kassib tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pereira paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kassib swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pereira counters with a left and a right that stings Kassib.
Pereira pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kassib back to the cage. Pereira follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kassib closes the distance looking to clinch
and Pereira counters with a two punch combo.
Kassib throws a jab when Pereira was well out of range.
Pereira is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kassib.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Pereira counters by moving into the clinch.

Pereira jumps guard but Kassib turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Billel Kassib seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kassib slips a jab and a cross from Pereira.
Kassib throws out a leg kick but Pereira moves out of range and Kassib only half commits.
Pereira will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pereira lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kassib circles away quickly and effectively.
Kassib is looking for the big counter here.
Kassib throws a lazy right hand but Pereira sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kassib has closed the distance and engaged Pereira in a clinch.
Pereira jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kassib walks away with a smile on his face. Pereira gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kassib shoots for a takedown but Pereira saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kassib throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pereira counters with a one-two to the body.
Kassib is breathing heavily.
Pereira takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Alex Pereira is winning the standup battle so far.
Pereira fails to land with a series of punches.
Pereira closes the distance and clinches.
Kassib pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kassib shoots for a takedown but Pereira saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kassib changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pereira tries to avoid it but Kassib manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pereira to the ground. Pereira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alex Pereira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billel Kassib.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kassib accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alex Pereira will probably get the nod.

Kassib closes the distance and clinches up with Pereira, looking for a takedown. Kassib pushes Pereira against the cage but Pereira circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pereira smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Kassib is still on wobbly legs! Can Pereira finish him?
Pereira lands with a big right hook that stumbles Kassib - he's out on his feet here! Pereira follows up with another monster hook that separates Kassib from consciousness! Kassib falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Pereira stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Alex Pereira!
After the fight, Alex Pereira was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
