Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonathan Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Lima!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lima defends well and Maia ends up having to push Lima into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Maia gets tackled into the cage by Lima. Lima maintains the clinch.
Maia is trying to drag Lima to the mat but Lima just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lima prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maia tries to score a body lock takedown but Lima shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lima has picked Maia up - he's going for a ride! Lima dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Lima is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lima wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maia, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lima is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maia has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maia keeps working.

Lima seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

After winning the bout, Rodrigo Lima thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
