Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Hall (ranked 21309 p4p, 638 weight class) and Johnathon Ray (ranked 6474 p4p, 579 weight class). Johnathon Ray will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnathon Ray!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray misses with a few strikes there.
Hall checks a leg kick.
Hall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ray fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ray misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Ray wants to get back to striking at distance but Hall won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Ray stopping the sweep attempt from Hall.
Ray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ray's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hall is looking to stand up but Ray isn't so interested in that idea.
Ray engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Johnathon Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ray throws a right hand that Hall ducks under and follows up with a left that Hall also avoids with ease.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ray wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hall has a takedown stuffed.
Ray rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hall moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hall has Ray up against the cage in a clinch.
Ray wants to stall.

Hall gets control of Ray's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hall will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ray manages to get himself to full guard.

Ray looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hall postures up in Ray's guard and throws a big left but Ray blocks it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ray can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ray managing to control the position.
Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Ray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ray working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hall.
Hall throws a big elbow that misses.
Ray looking for a sweep. Not yet Ray, not yet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ray utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ray controls Hall momentarily but Hall frees himself.
Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Ray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ray is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hall swats away the attempt to clinch by Ray.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hall closes the distance and clinches.
Ray looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Hall dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Ray fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hall looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ray throws a right hand that Hall ducks under and follows up with a left that Hall also avoids with ease.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ray sprawls well. Ray wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hall gets slowly back to his feet.
Ray stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ray wants it to stay on the feet.
Ray tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hall defends well and Ray ends up having to push Hall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ray sprawls well. Ray wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hall gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hall fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ray scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hall in his tracks.

Ray connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ryan Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ray scores with the left hand. Hall knows he should have avoided that one.

and Ray counters with a stiff right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

It looked like Hall was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ray.

Ray has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hall has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ray slaps away a takedown attempt from Hall, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ray's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ray duly obliges.
Hall throws a body punch but Ray moves out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hall throws a sloppy head kick and Ray moves out of range easily.
Hall fails with the takedown.
Ray throws a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnathon Ray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Ray lands a two punch combo.
Ray jabs at Hall's body.
Ray avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ray lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hall lands a head kick!

and Hall holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hall's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ray takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hall looks for a takedown but Ray sprawls well.
Ray unleashes a big counter combination but Hall bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Ray throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hall lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Ray tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hall manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A frustrated look appears on Ray's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hall drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ray pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ray jabs at Hall's body.
Johnathon Ray seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ray tries to bum rush Hall with a series of wild strikes but Hall uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ray misses with a jab, cross combination.

Ray moves into the clinch.
Ray wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Good body shot from Hall.
Ray is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hall fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hall wants to take the fight to the mat but Ray manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Ray tries to break free but Hall pushes him back against the cage.
Ray jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hall walks away with a smile on his face. Ray gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Ray counters with a left and a right that stings Hall.
Ray misses with a series of wild punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Ray shows good takedown defense.
Hall ducks under a wild hook from Ray.
Hall went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ray misses the jab.

Hall has managed to clinch.
Ray wants to break free but Hall has control.
Hall fails to pull guard.

Hall gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ray tries to get to full guard but Hall has control of the leg.
Ray is staying active underneath Hall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ray avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hall.
Hall is trying to control. Ray wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ray throws a series of punches but Hall avoids them all with ease.
Hall throws a right and a left that Ray avoids nicely.
Ray blocks a head kick by Hall.
Ray throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ray misses with a wild combination.
Hall blocks a jab.
Ray missing with a left hand there. Hall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ray moves in looking to clinch but Hall pushes him off.
Hall misses with a takedown attempt - Ray sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Johnathon Ray comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ray has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
