Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Monteiro (ranked 301 p4p, 40 weight class) and Monte Zuma (ranked 349 p4p, 50 weight class). Tony Monteiro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Monteiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Monte Zuma! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Zuma. Monteiro does a little dance to reset his feet. A little feinted left hand from Monteiro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Monteiro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Zuma moves out of range of the strikes. Zuma throws a lazy body kick and Monteiro counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Monte Zuma has been cut. Monteiro misses with an attempted mid kick.
Zuma throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. A little feinted left hand from Monteiro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zuma thuds his shin into the meat of Monteiro's side. Zuma lands a nice looking kick to the body. Monteiro takes a step back to recover. Zuma lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zuma scores with a hook.
It looks like Tony Monteiro has been cut. Tony Monteiro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Zuma slips under a jab from Monteiro. Monte Zuma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zuma tries a head kick but it misses.
A slapping body kick lands there for Zuma. Zuma scores with a hook to the body. Monteiro takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Zuma takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. A solid leg kick lands there for Zuma.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zuma darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Zuma lands a slapping body shot.
Nice defenses there by Monteiro. Monteiro ducks right into an uppercut from Zuma. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zuma ducks straight into an uppercut from Monteiro and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Zuma manages to regain guard straight away.
Monteiro wants to get up but he can't break Zuma's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Zuma has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monteiro can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Monteiro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Monteiro tries to stand but Zuma is controlling from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zuma has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monteiro can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Monteiro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Zuma, up you get! A slapping body kick lands there for Zuma. Zuma drives through with a takedown into Monteiro's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Monteiro has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Zuma has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Zuma cracks Monteiro with a nice body shot. Monteiro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Monteiro takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zuma pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A little feinted left hand from Monteiro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Zuma lands with a shot to the body. Zuma throws out a loose jab but Monteiro uses good head movement to avoid it. Zuma throws the kick towards the body but Monteiro avoids it. Zuma lunges at Monteiro with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Monteiro's hand. Zuma tries to clinch up but Monteiro circles away and keeps his distance. It looked like Monteiro wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Zuma misses with the body kick letting Monteiro counter with a right hand. Monteiro checks a leg kick. Monteiro throwing a counter right hand but Zuma manages to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Monte Zuma will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Zuma lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
We've been told by Monteiro's head coaches at Big Bear Fight Factory that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Zuma throws a front kick that sends Monteiro stumbling back into the cage. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Zuma - that will leave a mark!
Monteiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Monteiro takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Zuma tries to clinch but Monteiro moves out of range. Monte Zuma seems to be getting the better of the standup. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A head kick misses from Zuma. Monteiro swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Zuma. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Monteiro on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zuma fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Monteiro looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Zuma scores with a spinning back kick! Monteiro lands with a hook. Zuma tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Zuma fakes the leg kick and cracks Monteiro in the body. Zuma has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Zuma fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Monteiro is rocked! Zuma cracks Monteiro with a left hook right on the temple and Monteiro goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Zuma lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Monteiro is OK!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Monte Zuma! After the fight, Monte Zuma was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
