Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marky Mark (ranked 141 p4p, 21 weight class) and Geordie Power (ranked 546 p4p, 78 weight class). Mark comes to the ring accompanied by Isä ei jätä. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marky Mark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Geordie Power!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Power.
Power moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Power clobbers Mark with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Power looks to land a left hand but Mark moved out of range nicely.
Power throws a half hearted mid kick.
Power moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Power scores with the left hand. Mark knows he should have avoided that one.
Mark really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mark keeps the fight on the outside.

Power swings widly with a right hand
and Mark counters with a lovely straight right hand!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mark takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Power fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mark has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Geordie Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Power buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Power ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mark moves away.

Mark needs to keep his hands up - Power had a free shot at his head there.
Power loads up on a big right hand but Mark slips the punch.
Mark looks for the body kick but Power saw that one coming.
Mark tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Power throws a hook but Mark blocks it.
Mark throws a big counter combination but Power scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

The fighters circling - Mark throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Crunch! Power slams his shin into Mark's torso.
Power throws a hook but Mark blocks it.
Mark lands with an uppercut that bounces Power off the ropes and back into range.
Power loads up on a big right hand but Mark slips the punch.
Mark is looking to counter with a body kick.

and Power counters by moving into the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mark throws a punch but it's blocked by Power.
Mark has a couple of punches blocked by Power.
Mark jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Power walks away with a smile on his face. Mark gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Power takes a jab right on the kisser.
Mark looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Power scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geordie Power dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marky Mark's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mark walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Power throws a shot from downtown. Mark moves away and avoids it.
Mark throws a body punch but Power moves out of range.
Power throws a half hearted mid kick.
Power jabs Mark to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Power scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Power feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mark's calf.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mark seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

and Mark counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Geordie Power seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Power throws a nice outside leg kick.
Mark has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Power's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mark under the eye.
Mark takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Power stands and steps away. Mark gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Power looks to score with a jab to the body but Mark is just out of range.
Power lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mark's sensitive parts.

Mark looks to land a combination. Power sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Geordie Power has been cut.
Both fighters circling a little - Mark finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

and Mark counters with a good low kick that Power was not able to check.
Power is breathing heavily.

Crunch! Mark slams his shin into Power's torso.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Power takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Power tries to clinch but Mark moves out of range.

Power throws a hook to the side of Mark's head but Mark sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Power has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marky Mark will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Power wants to clinch up but Mark keeps it at a distance.

Power tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Mark paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Power stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mark.
Mark bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Power has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Mark seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Power can turn it around.
Geordie Power seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Mark working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Power doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Power manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mark is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mark has his foot on Power's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Power works his way back into a safe position though.

Power decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mark, up you get!

Marky Mark decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
