PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Soprano (ranked 4559 p4p, 480 weight class) and Earl Fonalleda (ranked 6653 p4p, 558 weight class). Earl Fonalleda struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. On his way into the cage it seems that Marco Soprano has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Marco Soprano seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Fonalleda!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fonalleda keeps the fight on the outside.
Soprano throws a front kick aimed at Fonalleda's knee but Fonalleda avoids it well.

Fonalleda throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Soprano's head.
Fonalleda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Soprano's waist but Soprano gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fonalleda off to one side.
Soprano is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Fonalleda.
Soprano throws a right and a left that Fonalleda avoids nicely.
Fonalleda lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Fonalleda swats away the attempt to clinch by Soprano.

Fonalleda stuffs the takedown attempt from Soprano. Soprano gets slowly back to his feet.

Fonalleda gets to his feet and stands over Soprano, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Soprano felt that one! Fonalleda unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Soprano from any more punishment!
