Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DAngelo Hawkins (ranked 1896 p4p, 208 weight class) and Dana Schwartz (ranked 1477 p4p, 160 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, DAngelo Hawkins!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dana Schwartz!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwartz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hawkins counters with a head kick. That will keep Schwartz thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Hawkins throws a shot to the body.
Hawkins keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Dana Schwartz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schwartz throws a body shot but no joy.
Schwartz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Schwartz throws a body punch but Hawkins moves out of range.
Schwartz ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Schwartz on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Schwartz keeps the fight on the outside.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

No luck for Schwartz with that takedown attempt.
DAngelo Hawkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dana Schwartz.

Hawkins takes the fight into the clinch.
Hawkins prevents a takedown attempt there.
Schwartz swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Schwartz trying to control the position but instead, Hawkins has worked for underhooks and has pushed Schwartz into the cage.

Hawkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hawkins stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Schwartz is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hawkins rather than just go for the knockout.
Hawkins is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Schwartz changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schwartz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Hawkins counters with a leg kick.
Schwartz throws a body punch but Hawkins moves out of range.
Hawkins connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Hawkins closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hawkins pulls guard.

Hawkins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schwartz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Schwartz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hawkins is trying to control the position but Schwartz postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hawkins is looking for a triangle here but Schwartz uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Schwartz is putting a hurting on Hawkins here, landing some big shots from side control.
Hawkins tries to improve position but can't.

Schwartz scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hawkins to see if he's OK.

Schwartz lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Hawkins manages to work his way to half guard, despite Schwartz's best efforts.
Schwartz winds up and cracks Hawkins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Hawkins makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hawkins.
Oh Hawkins is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hawkins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schwartz defends it easily.

Hawkins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schwartz defends well.
Hawkins seems to have got his legs back now.
Schwartz lands a couple of digs.
Schwartz landing some decent shots from guard.
Hawkins has momentary wrist control but Schwartz slips an elbow through the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hawkins keeping moving, preventing Schwartz from controlling successfully.
Hawkins controls Schwartz momentarily but Schwartz frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DAngelo Hawkins dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Schwartz is defended easily by Hawkins.
Schwartz thuds a left hand into Hawkins's body.
Schwartz lands a jab to Hawkins's midsection.

Hawkins moves into range and clinches up with Schwartz.
Schwartz tries a knee to the head but Hawkins blocks it.
Schwartz blocks a body shot from Hawkins.

Hawkins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Schwartz uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schwartz has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hawkins to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Schwartz is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hawkins pulls down on the head and he's put Schwartz to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). DAngelo Hawkins!
