PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Lukaszenko (ranked 3289 p4p, 296 weight class) and Miguel Sandoval (ranked 3783 p4p, 328 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Lukaszenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Miguel Sandoval!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lukaszenko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sandoval!
Sandoval is looking for a sweep.

Lukaszenko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lukaszenko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lukaszenko swings around for an armbar but Sandoval sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lukaszenko's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sandoval passes Lukaszenko's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lukaszenko wants to control but Sandoval is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lukaszenko tries to get to full guard but Sandoval has control of the leg.
Sandoval takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lukaszenko is trying to control but can't.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sandoval connects with a nice short shot to Lukaszenko's temple.
Lukaszenko is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sandoval scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sandoval seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Sandoval lands with a punch from half guard.
Sandoval content to control rather than advance.

Sandoval seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lukaszenko tries to get to full guard but Sandoval has control of the leg.
Lukaszenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sandoval is working away from the top position though.
Sandoval thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sandoval in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lukaszenko gets full guard.
Lukaszenko lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lukaszenko won't allow Sandoval to sweep him here.
Sandoval has Lukaszenko pulled in close to control his posture.

Lukaszenko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sandoval looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sandoval looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sandoval!


That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.
Sandoval landing strikes.
Lukaszenko tries to improve position but can't.
Sandoval scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lukaszenko to see if he's OK.
Sandoval wants to control but Lukaszenko is keeping him busy.
Lukaszenko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sandoval lands an elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sandoval working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lukaszenko tries to bench press Sandoval off him but Sandoval keeps the position.

Sandoval has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lukaszenko!
Lukaszenko is in a horrible position here. Sandoval smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sandoval breaks from Lukaszenko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sandoval fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Lukaszenko is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Sandoval dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Sandoval shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Lukaszenko is on queer street and Sandoval is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Miguel Sandoval!
An out of breath Miguel Sandoval thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
