Amaral has chosen dramas e dilemas as his entrance music. Guilherme Amaral has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brock Gillespie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guilherme Amaral!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gillespie throws a series of punches but Amaral moves out of range.
Amaral misses with a series of wild punches.

Gillespie scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Amaral has one foot on Gillespie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Amaral wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gillespie has him pressed against the cage.

Gillespie turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gillespie manages to end up in side control.

Amaral throws Gillespie to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gillespie has managed to clinch.
Gillespie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gillespie tries a knee to the head but Amaral blocks it.

Gillespie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Amaral drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gillespie looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Amaral has picked Gillespie up and slammed him! Gillespie can't keep hold of the triangle and Amaral manages to pass to side control!

Amaral has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Amaral tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gillespie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Amaral closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gillespie did well to prevent Amaral getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gillespie makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Amaral shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gillespie is trying to defend but Amaral finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Amaral closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gillespie looks to move to half guard but instead Amaral has passed into mount! Damn!
Gillespie wants to hold on but Amaral pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gillespie is desperately trying to improve his position but Amaral has a good base and remains in mount.

Amaral takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gillespie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Amaral is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Amaral tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gillespie wants to control but Amaral is having none of it.
Gillespie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Amaral.
Gillespie tries to hold on but Amaral postures up.
Amaral blocks Gillespie's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Poor strikes thrown by Amaral there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Gillespie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gillespie is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Amaral misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Amaral can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gillespie is looking to escape.

Guilherme Amaral showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
