Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Macedon (ranked 2870 p4p, 356 weight class) and Andres Cardoso (ranked 4970 p4p, 503 weight class). Cardoso is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sepultura - Refuse/Resist. Alexander Macedon looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Macedon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Cardoso!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cardoso is defended easily by Macedon.
Cardoso fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Macedon sprawls well initially but Cardoso persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cardoso is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Macedon is just riding it out for now. Cardoso eventually gives up the hold.
Macedon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macedon won't allow Cardoso to pass to mount.

Cardoso seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cardoso wants to lay and pray for a moment but Macedon keeps working.

Cardoso is taking a breather. Macedon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Macedon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cardoso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Macedon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cardoso wants to control from the top but Macedon keeps moving.
Cardoso throws a big elbow that misses.
Macedon looking for a sweep. Not yet Macedon, not yet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Macedon has Cardoso up against the cage in a clinch.
Cardoso jumps guard but Macedon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Cardoso tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Macedon just stands there and leans against the cage.
Alexander Macedon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andres Cardoso.

Macedon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Macedon manages to end up in side control.

Cardoso wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Cardoso is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Macedon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Macedon's back!
Macedon grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

That's time! Macedon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Macedon is trying to control the action in half guard but Cardoso is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Cardoso shoots in looking for a takedown but Macedon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cardoso's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Macedon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Macedon seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

I would just about give that final round to Andres Cardoso.
I think Cardoso has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
