PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Talieb Bungalouie (ranked 4667 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Brees (ranked 3981 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brees keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bungalouie.

Brees darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Brees perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bungalouie tries to roll over but Brees keeps him under control.
Bungalouie is trying to stand.
Brees with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Bungalouie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brees.
Brees controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bungalouie tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bungalouie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bungalouie misses with a body kick.

Brees shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brees is controlling the pace.

Bungalouie manages to get to full guard.

Bungalouie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brees is one step ahead there.
Brees's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Brees seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brees is in close to Bungalouie's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Brees must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Let's hope that Brees has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd cheers as Bungalouie lands an impressive looking overhand right. Brees doesn't seem phased though.

Brees controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dustin Brees has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bungalouie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brees engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Brees really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bungalouie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bungalouie wants to stand and escape but Brees is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brees throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bungalouie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brees is in Bungalouie's guard.

Bungalouie is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brees is controlling him.
Bungalouie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brees controls the pace.

Bungalouie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brees is concentrating on defense, preventing Bungalouie from advancing position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brees holds on and takes a little breather.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Brees.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brees shoots in and gets a takedown into Bungalouie's guard.
Brees prevents Bungalouie from getting back to his feet.
Brees cracks Bungalouie with a solid left hand.
Brees content to stall in guard here.
Brees's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Brees has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bungalouie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brees is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bungalouie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bungalouie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brees swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brees shoots in for a double leg but Bungalouie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Bungalouie is looking to improve his position.
Still in half guard, Brees seems content to control.
Brees prevents Bungalouie from standing back up.

Dustin Brees comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Brees winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
