PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Baratheon (ranked 6140 p4p, 491 weight class) and Marky Mark (ranked 6390 p4p, 505 weight class). Marky Mark told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeffrey Baratheon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marky Mark!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mark shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Baratheon manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mark keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mark tries a body shot but Baratheon blocks it.

Baratheon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Baratheon scores with a decent looking hook.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mark.
Baratheon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mark is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Baratheon with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mark is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Baratheon's half guard.
Baratheon wants to control but Mark is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mark tries to stand and escape but Baratheon is controlling the position.
Baratheon tries to kick Mark off but Mark keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Mark wants to get up but he can't break Baratheon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mark jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Baratheon walks away with a smile on his face. Mark gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mark takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Baratheon.

Mark closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Baratheon to the mat! Baratheon manages to get full guard.
Mark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Baratheon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Baratheon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mark gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baratheon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Baratheon wants to sweep but no luck.
Mark is stalling in the full guard.

Mark changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baratheon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mark shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Baratheon's guard.

Baratheon tried to score with a low kick but Mark checks it.
Mark tries to counter with a clinch but Baratheon shakes him off and moves away.

Mark takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Baratheon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
