Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Matvey Pavlov (ranked 1299 p4p, 149 weight class) and Dominick Bruise (ranked 2936 p4p, 145 weight class). Pavlov's entrance music is Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 11 losses; Matvey Pavlov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Dominick Bruise! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Bruise closes the distance and clinches. Pavlov tries to score a body lock takedown but Bruise shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Bruise turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bruise manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Pavlov (0) vs (4) Bruise Pavlov is looking for a sweep. Pavlov is not content to let Bruise control the position. Pavlov is trying to control Bruise's posture but Bruise avoids it. Bruise content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Pavlov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bruise's best efforts. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bruise tries to pass to full mount but Pavlov defends it. Pavlov tries to get to full guard but Bruise has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pavlov is working hard here to advance position. Pavlov keeps control of the position for the meantime. Bruise is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Bruise is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pavlov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bruise perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pavlov is not content to let Bruise control the position. Bruise controlling the action here. Bruise is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pavlov has managed to free his arm - good work. Pavlov wants to improve his position but Bruise is controlling well.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bruise working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Pavlov is looking to control Bruise's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pavlov avoid being mounted? Pavlov moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pavlov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bruise defends well. Pavlov keeping moving, preventing Bruise from controlling successfully. Bruise wants to pass the guard but Pavlov is keeping the position. Pavlov working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pavlov wants to get back to full guard. Pavlov has a hand on Bruise's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bruise takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Score +3 for passing guard: Pavlov (0) vs (7) Bruise Pavlov tries to hold on but Bruise postures up. Bruise trying to control but Pavlov is having none of it. Bruise is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pavlov to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pavlov shrugs it off. That's five minutes gone in the round. Pavlov bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Pavlov (2) vs (7) Bruise Pavlov trying to control but Bruise is working from the bottom. Pavlov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bruise is pulling down on Pavlov's head to control his posture.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Bruise is trying to control the position but Pavlov postures up. Pavlov preventing the sweep. Pavlov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bruise is keeping the position for now. Bruise is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bruise is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bruise is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Pavlov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bruise for as long as he can get away with. Pavlov being controlled here momentarily. Pavlov won't allow Bruise to sweep him here. Pavlov controls from within his opponent's guard. Bruise looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bruise pulls Pavlov in close to his closed guard and prevents Pavlov from doing any damage or advancing position. Pavlov pushes down on Bruise's leg and manages to get into half guard.

He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Pavlov has the hooks in. Bruise is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Bruise is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Pavlov off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Pavlov controlling from the back. Pavlov looking to break Bruise's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bruise remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Pavlov will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Bruise wants to escape the position.
