Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Alejandro Scott (ranked 2674 p4p, 323 weight class) and Paea Talanoa (ranked 1511 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes into the arena with Alejandro - Lady Gaga blaring out of the sound system. Talanoa is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tonga. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Paea Talanoa enters the cage!

In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Alejandro Scott! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 4 losses; Paea Talanoa! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Scott moves into the clinch. Talanoa gets a trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Scott (0) vs (2) Talanoa Talanoa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Scott is just riding it out for now. Talanoa eventually gives up the hold. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Talanoa working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Talanoa wants to work for an arm triangle but Scott is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Talanoa seems to be working for a kimura but Scott defends the submission attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Talanoa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scott does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Scott wants to control but Talanoa is keeping busy and won't allow it. We've been hearing good reports from Scott's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
