Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ryan Gordon (ranked 2950 p4p, 22 weight class) and Diego Alejandro Marrero (ranked 6495 p4p, 49 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Ryan Gordon! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; Diego Alejandro Marrero! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Marrero clinches up against the ropes. Marrero has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gordon uses from the top position. Marrero controls Gordon momentarily but Gordon frees himself. Gordon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marrero swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gordon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marrero is trying to control the position but Gordon postures up. Marrero keeping moving, preventing Gordon from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gordon preventing the sweep. That's one minute gone in the round. Gordon controls from within his opponent's guard. Marrero working a defensive guard here.
Marrero has control of Gordon's left arm, preventing Gordon from doing any damage. Marrero not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gordon passes easily into side control. Nice work. Score +3 for passing guard: Gordon (3) vs (0) Marrero
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gordon is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Marrero will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Gordon working away. Gordon is looking to take a break and control but Marrero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marrero can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gordon has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Marrero is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gordon yanks on the arm and Marrero is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gordon.
