Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edward Newgate (ranked 2884 p4p, 276 weight class) and Wulfgar Beornegar (ranked 3575 p4p, 318 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edward Newgate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wulfgar Beornegar! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newgate misses with a wild body shot. Beornegar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Newgate to the mat! Newgate manages to get full guard. Beornegar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Newgate's guard. Newgate is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at MMA Dojo (Top Gym in Tokyo*) , so we'll see if he gets out of it. Newgate gets full guard. Beornegar trying to control but Newgate is working from the bottom. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Beornegar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Newgate looking for a sweep. Not yet Newgate, not yet. Beornegar pushes down on Newgate's leg and manages to get into half guard. Newgate is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Beornegar pulls his head out easily. Newgate trying to control but Beornegar postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beornegar trying to control the action but Newgate is working from the bottom. Beornegar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Beornegar is looking for a kimura but Newgate is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beornegar to get the leverage. Beornegar wants to pass to mount but Newgate is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newgate wants to get back to full guard. Beornegar works his way into side control. Newgate is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beornegar working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Newgate tries to get back to half guard but can't. Newgate is not content to let Beornegar control the position. Newgate is trying to control Beornegar's posture but Beornegar avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Newgate is trying to get back to half guard. Newgate is working hard here to advance position. Beornegar tries for a kimura but Newgate is defending well. Beornegar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Newgate, who protects the arm well. Beornegar cracks Newgate with a big elbow. Newgate struggling a bit here. Newgate is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Beornegar off and has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beornegar rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Newgate looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Beornegar tries to roll over but Newgate keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newgate looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Beornegar tries to get to full guard but Newgate has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Beornegar landing strikes from the bottom. Beornegar is looking to improve his position.
Beornegar looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Beornegar wants to improve his position but Newgate is controlling well.
Newgate blocks the strikes from Beornegar.
Newgate uses his free foot to push down on Beornegar's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Beornegar. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Newgate working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Beornegar turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Newgate off and cradles Beornegar's limp body as Newgate celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Edward Newgate! Edward Newgate seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
