Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alejendro Gutterio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlos Nunez! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Gutterio. Gutterio tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gutterio shoots for a takedown but Nunez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nunez closes the distance and clinches. Nunez lands a takedown into guard.
Nunez passes Gutterio's left leg - he's now in half guard. Gutterio looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nunez stalling. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gutterio is looking for a sweep. Nunez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutterio gets back to full guard.
Gutterio working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nunez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nunez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Nunez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Gutterio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Nunez stands and throws Gutterio's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. You can see the frustration on Gutterio's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nunez controlling the position from side mount. Gutterio sneaks back into half guard. Gutterio regains full guard. Nicely done. Gutterio is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nunez is aware though and is defending well. Gutterio has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Nunez has passed into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gutterio trying to remain calm as Nunez controls from the top position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gutterio is looking for a sweep. Nunez taking a breather here. Nunez is continuing to stall. Gutterio is trying to control Nunez's posture but Nunez avoids it. Nunez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gutterio will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. My spies in Hardpunch (13 Elite / 1000$ inform me that Nunez has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Gutterio tries to buck Nunez off but Nunez is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gutterio tries to keep at a distance but Nunez has taken the fight into the clinch. Nunez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Nunez prevents a body shot from Gutterio. Gutterio is defending well against a takedown attempt. Nunez has Gutterio pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Nunez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gutterio tumbling to the mat - Nunez dives into Gutterio's guard. Nunez is standing up over Gutterio. Gutterio looks to escape but Nunez dives into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gutterio is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Nunez dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Nunez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nunez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gutterio pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nunez closes the distance and pushes Gutterio back into the cage. Nunez tries for a takedown. No joy.
Nunez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Gutterio is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Nunez is keeping busy. Nunez tightens his grip and picks Gutterio up, before dumping him to the ground. Gutterio manages to land in guard. Gutterio throws his legs up looking for a submission but Nunez uses it to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A bit of a pause in the action here. Nunez controlling the positon. Nunez patiently working for the choke. That's two minutes gone in the round. Gutterio trying to control the hands but Nunez won't let him. Gutterio tries to escape the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Gutterio tries to roll but Nunez sticks to his back.
Nunez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Nunez is not going to allow Gutterio to sit and survive in this position.

Nunez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nunez is hanging on to Gutterio's back as he tries to escape.
What can Gutterio do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Let's hope that Nunez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gutterio rolls, trying to escape but Nunez keeps control of the position.
Gutterio trying to control the hands but Nunez won't let him. Nunez has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Gutterio's body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gutterio wants to escape the position.

Carlos Nunez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Nunez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gutterio doesn't seem bothered though. Nunez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Nunez avoiding damage as Gutterio throws knees to the body.
Nunez is trying to drag Gutterio to the mat but Gutterio just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Gutterio misses with some punches.

Nunez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gutterio! Nunez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nunez moves to the back position. Nunez is hanging on to Gutterio's back as he tries to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nunez is riding his opponent, not letting Gutterio buck him off. Nunez is trying to stick to Gutterio's back but Gutterio is turning into Nunez. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Nunez's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gutterio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nunez wants to stand but Gutterio is controlling the position. Nunez pushes Gutterio off and gets back to his feet.
Gutterio shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nunez defends it nicely. Gutterio tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gutterio tries to bum rush Nunez with a series of wild strikes but Nunez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nunez connects with the punch. Nunez pushes Gutterio up against the cage in a clinch. Nunez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Nunez controlling from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gutterio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nunez defends well. Alejendro Gutterio has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nunez pushes down on Gutterio's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Nunez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Nunez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
