TWGC 26 (265+lbs, D2): Amsterdam Qualifier - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Juan Marfaker (ranked 2208 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Duncan (ranked 1995 p4p, 0 weight class). Tim Duncan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 0 losses; Juan Marfaker! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Tim Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.

Duncan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Marfaker.

Duncan is pressed up against the cage. Marfaker has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Duncan down to the mat. Duncan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

You can see the frustration on Duncan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Marfaker looking to break Duncan's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Duncan remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Marfaker will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Duncan is having to fend off submission attempts from Marfaker, who is looking to sink in the choke. Marfaker doesn't have the hooks in though and Duncan manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Marfaker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duncan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
